Activities & Attractions:  Free or Reduced Admissions

* Updated on 06/2011 *

Oregon Historical Society The third Saturday each month used to be free admission for all, but the OHS has changed it as of 2009 to two children admitted free per one paying adult.  The third Saturday of the month offers special programs on these days.  The facility does offer free admission during Statehood Day (Oregon's birthday) and once or twice during the rest of the year; see web site for schedule.
Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) Bank of America and The Standard have collaborated to present $2 Days at OMSI.  OMSI visitors will pay only $2 per person for general admission on the first Sunday of each month.
Oregon Zoo Once upon a time when I was still in high school and working at the zoo, the Washington Park Zoo (as it was called) used to offer free admission on the second Tuesday of the month after 4:00pm (we would actually close the gates are reopen them at 4:00pm--those lines were long!).  They discontined this in the late 1990's and now offer a discounted admission of $4 on the second Tuesday of every month.  The zoo does charge $2 a car for parking, but if you ride the MAX and show proof of ridership, they'll knock off $1.50 from the price.  So, ride the MAX, show your ticket, and pay only $2.50.
Pittock Mansion They don't offer many free days, but in the past year they've offered free admission to mothers on Mother's Day and have held a free 'open house' during the summer.  We'll post if we find out any further free days.

If you are a Bank of America / Merrill Lynch cardholder (credit, debit or bankcard), just show your card and ID during the first weekend of the month and gain free admission as part of BoA's Museums on Us promotion.
Portland Art Museum Free admission for children ages 17 and younger every day.  This is supported by The Gordan D. Sondland and Katherine J. Durant Foundation.

Free admission on the fourth Friday of every month from 5:00pm - 8:00pm.

The museum offers four free Sundays a year scheduled in conjunction with Museum Family Day .

If you are a Bank of America / Merrill Lynch cardholder (credit, debit or bankcard), just show your card and ID during the first weekend of the month and gain free admission as part of BoA's Museums on Us promotion.
Portland Children's Museum Thanks to the Target Corporation, the first Friday night each month is free admissionfrom 4:00pm-8:00pm.
Portland Lan Su Classical Chinese Garden It's rare when they offer free or discounted admission, but they have in the past so we'll keep our eye out and post as soon as we get wind.  Check here for calendar.
